Fatal Catawba County Interstate 40 pedestrian crash death of Bruce Matthew Hoyle – Obituary

Bruce Matthew Hoyle, 35, of Hickory, was struck and killed Thursday morning while walking into oncoming traffic on Interstate 40 in Catawba County, authorities reported.

The incident occurred around 6:40 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near the McDonald Parkway Exit. Investigators said a 2025 Acura Integra collided with Hoyle, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, 35, sustained minor injuries and received treatment following the crash. Troopers continue to document the circumstances of the fatal accident in Catawba County.
