Authorities confirmed that David Alexander Printz, 44, lost his life on February 15 after a single-vehicle crash along Highway 1 in Mendocino County.

According to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, Printz was the driver involved in the collision, which happened between Gualala and Point Arena. Officials said he had recently relocated to North Port but had returned to the area to finish personal matters related to his move.

Investigators with the California Highway Patrol reported that Printz had been driving a 2003 GMC Sierra northbound when he lost control of the truck and crashed into a tree at about 1 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities noted that neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be factors, and weather conditions were not believed to have contributed to the crash.

The incident prompted a closure of the roadway for more than two hours while emergency crews, including local fire departments and ambulance personnel, responded and cleared the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
