Fatal Henderson County, North Carolina motorcycle crash death of Stephen Murray Nussbaum – Obituary

An 80-year-old motorcyclist from Hendersonville lost his life following a single-vehicle wreck Saturday afternoon, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Officials said the crash happened at approximately 3:29 p.m. on December 27 along US‑25 near the five-mile marker. Nussbaum had been riding a 2014 Harley-Davidson Tri-Glide northbound when the motorcycle veered off the roadway and struck a guardrail.

Emergency responders transported him to Pardee Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead at 4:04 p.m.

Investigators believe a medical issue may have occurred before the crash, noting there was no indication that excessive speed, alcohol, or drug use played a role. Authorities also confirmed he had been wearing a helmet approved by the Department of Transportation at the time of the incident.
