Fatal Kingston Luzerne County house fire death of Zachary Scott Scalfer – Obituary

Zachary Scott Scalfer, a juvenile from Luzerne County, died after suffering severe injuries in a house fire earlier this month in Kingston. The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office confirmed that his death was caused by smoke inhalation and burn injuries, and the incident was ruled accidental.

Emergency responders were called to a residence on the 60 block of North Welles Street at approximately 11:07 p.m. on February 11, 2026, after reports of a fire. Scalfer was critically injured in the blaze and later succumbed to those injuries.

An autopsy was conducted as part of the investigation. Authorities, including the coroner’s office, Kingston Municipal Police, the Kingston Forty-Fort Fire Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police, are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal fire.
