Fatal Horry County crash death of Kathryn Bhirdo – Obituary

Kathryn Bhirdo, a 65-year-old woman from North Myrtle Beach, lost her life in a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 22 Tuesday evening. The Horry County Coroner’s Office confirmed she passed away just before 7 p.m., following the crash that occurred shortly after 6 p.m., according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Authorities reported the chain-reaction accident near mile marker 35. A 2002 Suzuki Vitara, a 2019 Nissan Versa, and a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado were stopped in traffic when a 2018 Jeep Wrangler traveling eastbound struck the Vitara. The impact pushed the Vitara into the Versa, which then collided with the Silverado, while the Wrangler flipped over during the crash.

Bhirdo, the Vitara’s driver, died at the scene. The drivers of the Wrangler and Versa sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital, while the Silverado driver emerged uninjured. The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident, and further updates will be provided as available.
