A motorcyclist lost his life following a multi-vehicle collision early Wednesday morning along the San Diego (405) Freeway in Long Beach.

Authorities said the crash occurred around 6:53 a.m. on the southbound lanes of the freeway, just north of Long Beach Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and confirmed that the motorcycle rider had died from his injuries before he could be transported to a hospital.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the deceased as 28-year-old Andres Alfaro.

Officials have not released additional details about how the collision happened, and the incident remains under investigation.
