Authorities in McDonald County are continuing their investigation after a man was discovered deceased near Indian Creek Drive in Lanagan earlier this month.

According to the McDonald County Sheriff’s Office, detectives were alerted on February 17, 2026, about a body found near the 100 block of Indian Creek Drive. When investigators arrived, they located the individual partially submerged in a nearby creek.

Officials secured the area and began processing the scene while notifying the McDonald County Coroner’s Office to assist with the investigation.

During their initial examination, detectives found a wallet containing a driver’s license, but they were unable to immediately confirm the person’s identity at that time. Authorities later conducted an autopsy to establish identification and gather more information about the circumstances of the death.

Following the examination, the deceased was officially identified as 43-year-old Darick Cochran.
