Fatal Tucson pedestrian crash death of Griselda Josephine Houston – Obituary
Griselda Josephine Houston, 56, lost her life after being struck by a truck on Tuesday evening in Tucson. The Tucson Police Department confirmed Houston was not using a crosswalk when the incident occurred, and the driver involved was impaired.
The collision happened around 7:12 p.m. on February 24 in the 6200 block of East Broadway Boulevard near Wilmot Road. Houston was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries and was later pronounced dead. The driver, a 65-year-old man operating a 2007 Nissan Titan, escaped without injury.
Investigators with the Traffic Collision Investigation Unit determined through witness accounts and scene evidence that Houston was crossing on the south side of Broadway Boulevard, away from the nearest crosswalk, located about 380 feet east. The truck, traveling eastbound, struck her during this attempt to cross. Tucson Police stated that both the driver’s impairment and Houston’s jaywalking were significant factors in the fatal crash.
