Authorities in Malaysia say a 19-year-old who disappeared while traveling with family during a vacation was later discovered dead after a suspected motorcycle accident.

Police identified the victim as Ahmad Azreeq Zafreen Ahmad Azhar, who had been reported missing on Friday, March 6. He was last seen earlier that morning at a gas station in Beting Lintang while heading toward Cameron Highlands.

According to officials, Azreeq had been riding a Yamaha R15 motorcycle behind his family’s vehicle during the trip. The family stopped at a gas station in Saujana, where the teen became separated from them and failed to arrive at their intended destination.

Concern grew when relatives were unable to reach him later that night. His father said the family had contacted him around 12:30 a.m. while stopping for food in Besut and asked him to meet them at the same location, but they never received a response.

Closed-circuit television footage later showed Azreeq inside the eatery at about 1:38 a.m. on Friday, confirming he had briefly stopped there.

On Sunday evening around 6:40 p.m., police discovered Azreeq’s body in bushes along a roadside in Kampung Bukit Jeruk. Investigators believe the teenager died the same night he went missing after his motorcycle skidded off the road.

Authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the crash. Azreeq was the eldest of five siblings, according to family members.
