Authorities report that two teenagers lost their lives in a fiery crash early Sunday morning in Lake County, Florida.
The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed the victims as 17-year-old Chrystobal Hernandez and 19-year-old Brayan Negrete. The crash occurred on March 8 along County Road 565 when the 2018 Dodge Challenger driven by Negrete went off the road, struck multiple trees, and caught fire.
Both teens were pronounced dead at the scene. Family members said Hernandez and Negrete were close friends who had attended a party prior to the crash. Chrystobal Hernandez was a 10th grader at Southlake High School, and relatives described the two as inseparable, always looking out for one another.
A vigil was held at the crash site on Sunday, where crosses bearing the names of the teens were placed by family and community members to honor their memory.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the vehicle leaving the roadway.
