Authorities have identified a 29-year-old woman who was fatally shot early Sunday morning in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The Wilmington Police Department reported that the victim was Demetria Ingram, who was found suffering from a gunshot wound after officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert just before 1:25 a.m. on Dawson Street in the 1300 block. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have described the shooting as an isolated incident. Dozens of people were reportedly in the area at the time, and police are urging anyone who witnessed the event to come forward to assist with the investigation.
