Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who lost his life following a collision with a pickup truck in Colorado Springs earlier this year.
According to a news release issued Monday by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office, the victim was 37-year-old Joseph Pagliaro. The crash occurred on February 6 at an intersection along the 1400 block of South Academy Boulevard.
Police reported that a pickup truck was traveling across South Academy Boulevard at the intersection when Pagliaro’s motorcycle struck the side of the vehicle. Investigators said the motorcycle sideswiped the truck during the incident.
Pagliaro suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck survived the crash and was treated for minor injuries.
Officials noted that excessive speed may have played a role in the collision, though the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
Law enforcement also stated that Pagliaro’s death marked the fifth traffic-related fatality recorded in Colorado Springs this year. During the same period last year, the city had not reported any traffic deaths.
