Fatal Buncombe County self-inflicted shooting death of Christopher Robin Rogers – Obituary
Christopher Robin Rogers, 61, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Friday, following a standoff in a camper on North Turkey Creek Road in Buncombe County, North Carolina.
Rogers had been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of 61-year-old Marco Loretto, who was found dead near Elk Mountain Scenic Highway after being reported missing on February 24, 2026. During the investigation, authorities discovered Rogers had moved onto Loretto’s property and was driving the victim’s vehicle.
After refusing to exit the camper, Rogers prompted a response from the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiation Team. When officers entered the camper, Rogers was found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
