Authorities have confirmed that 29-year-old Cristhian Joel Herrera-Rivera of Milpitas died following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in Newark, California last month.
According to the Newark Police Department, the fatal incident occurred around 11 p.m. on February 19 near the intersection of Cedar Boulevard and Stevenson Boulevard. Investigators say Herrera-Rivera was riding a 2012 Yamaha motorcycle when it struck a traffic island.
Officials reported that no other vehicles were involved in the crash. Herrera-Rivera was transported to a nearby hospital after the collision but later succumbed to his injuries.
Police indicated that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash, though the exact cause remains under investigation.
The incident marked Newarkâs first traffic-related fatality of 2026, authorities said.
