Fatal Sparks car crash death of Joshua Myers
Joshua Myers, a 43-year-old man from Reno, died on March 9 after sustaining severe injuries in a hit-and-run collision earlier in March.
The incident took place at approximately 3 a.m. on March 3, as Myers was bicycling near the intersection of Prater Way and View Street in Sparks. A motor vehicle struck him and immediately departed the location. Emergency services transported him to a hospital where he remained in critical condition.
Subsequent investigation led authorities to identify the suspect vehicle as a black Cadillac Escalade. The automobile was discovered parked in the 1800 block of El Rancho Drive, and the driver was located at the scene.
Jose Amaya, 26, of Sparks, was placed under arrest and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility. He is charged with offenses including driving under the influence causing significant bodily harm and leaving the scene of an accident involving death or injury.
