At nearly the same time, additional calls came in about a young man who appeared to be attempting to enter a nearby home.

When officers arrived, they found the young man injured and confused. Investigators said his injuries were consistent with those typically seen in a vehicle collision. He informed officers that he had been riding in a car with two teenage girls when the vehicle struck at least one utility pole before ending up in Beaver Creek.

The survivor explained that he managed to escape by crawling through a rear window of the vehicle. He told authorities the driver and another female passenger remained inside the car, and he did not witness them getting out.

Emergency crews transported the young man to a hospital for treatment of injuries that were not immediately specified. As of late Friday morning, police said he was not facing any criminal charges.

Search operations continued for several hours in Beaver Creek and in the nearby water channel that connects to Lake Erie. Members of the Lorain Police Underwater Recovery Team eventually located the submerged vehicle. At approximately 8 a.m., divers recovered the bodies of Lucille Hopkins and Paige Williams from the water.
