Fatal Asheville shooting death of William Wyatt Adair – Obituary
William Wyatt Adair, 20, was killed in a shooting on Patton Avenue near New Leicester Highway in Asheville, North Carolina, early Monday morning, March 9, 2026. Police responded around 1:04 a.m. to reports of a gunshot victim and found Adair deceased at the scene.
Officers located a suspect on New Leicester Highway, who attempted to evade arrest and then shot himself in the head. The suspect survived and was transported to Mission Hospital in critical condition.
Asheville Police have not released the identity of the suspect. This marks the second homicide in Asheville this year, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
