Fatal Horry County, South Carolina car crash death of David Shipman – Obituary

A 62-year-old man from Sumter lost his life in a head-on collision Saturday evening in Horry County, South Carolina.

Authorities identified the victim as David Shipman. The crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Highway 90 near Conway, close to the area of Thomas Road.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Shipman was driving a 2002 Dodge pickup truck westbound on SC 90 when the vehicle crossed over the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound 2014 Toyota Camry.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Shipman died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the Camry was transported to a hospital for treatment. Officials have not released further details about that person’s condition.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
