BRADENTON, FL — Jamari Murray-Barnes, 27, was fatally shot early Sunday morning while inside a vehicle on 14th Street West in Bradenton, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies discovered Murray-Barnes and another man after hearing gunfire while conducting routine patrols in the area.
Authorities said the shooting happened around 3:31 a.m. in the 5200 block of 14th Street West. When deputies arrived, they found a white car surrounded by numerous shell casings with Murray-Barnes and 21-year-old Deryan Lopez inside. Officers provided first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. Murray-Barnes was pronounced dead at the scene, while Lopez was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive.
Investigators believe the shooting was a targeted attack rather than a random act of violence. Detectives are actively pursuing leads, though no arrests have been announced as the investigation continues.
