A 23-year-old woman lost her life following a late-night traffic collision in downtown Los Angeles.
Authorities identified the victim as Jessica Szarvath, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The crash occurred around 9:34 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Flower Street. Police reported that Szarvath’s vehicle allegedly entered the intersection against a red light and collided with another car traveling southbound on Flower Street.
The impact caused Szarvath’s gray vehicle to overturn. Emergency crews arrived and were seen performing CPR on her at the scene before transporting her to a nearby hospital.
Despite lifesaving efforts, Szarvath was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The other driver involved in the crash was taken from the scene by firefighters with moderate injuries, according to reports. Authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
