A 51-year-old man lost his life after his vehicle left the roadway Sunday on State Route 500 in Vancouver, Washington.
Authorities identified the victim as Matthew G. Burnell. The crash occurred near the Northeast Andresen Road overpass while Burnell was driving a 2012 Infiniti G37 sedan westbound.
According to investigators, speed was a contributing factor in the accident. Emergency responders closed the westbound lanes to manage the scene and transported Burnell to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash and have not yet determined if drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
