A Huntsville man has died after a high-speed police pursuit ended with his vehicle crashing into a residence Sunday afternoon.
Authorities identified the victim as 39-year-old Toranza R. Williams. Police responded around 1:30 p.m. to a domestic violence report in the 2200 block of Brookline Drive. When officers arrived, Williams fled the scene, prompting a brief pursuit that was initially called off. A second attempt to contact him later resulted in a chase.
During the pursuit, Williams lost control of his Jeep Grand Cherokee on Brookline Drive, striking a mailbox, a utility pole guy wire, an unoccupied parked car, and ultimately crashing into a home on the 2500 block, causing significant property damage. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene around 1:47 p.m. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Investigators confirmed that probable cause for domestic violence charges existed, and the crash remains under review by local authorities.
