Authorities have identified Daniel Walker, 70, as the pedestrian who lost his life after being struck by a vehicle late Wednesday night in Tyler, Texas.
According to the Tyler Police Department, officers responded to a crash around 11:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of West Gentry Parkway. Investigators said Walker was attempting to cross the roadway at an angle rather than at a marked crosswalk or intersection when the incident occurred.
Police reported that Walker was hit by a truck traveling in the outside lane. The impact proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials confirmed that the truck driver stopped immediately after the collision. A witness also remained at the scene and spoke with authorities.
At this time, police say no charges have been filed, and no other injuries were reported. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
