Authorities have confirmed the identity of the motorcyclist who lost his life in a crash early Thursday morning in Fresno County near the community of Minkler. The victim was 47-year-old Francisco Fonseca Razo of Reedley.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision occurred at about 6 a.m. along Reed Avenue, just north of Annadale Avenue. Investigators say the incident involved a Lexus sedan and Razo’s motorcycle.
Officials reported that the Lexus was traveling southbound on Reed Avenue when the driver attempted to overtake another vehicle by moving into the northbound lane. During the passing attempt, the car collided head-on with Razo, who was riding his motorcycle northbound on the same road.
The impact of the crash was severe, and Razo was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said the driver of the Lexus was not hurt in the collision and has been cooperating with investigators as they continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Preliminary findings from officers indicate that alcohol or drug impairment does not appear to have contributed to the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
