Officials in Shasta County have confirmed the identity of a woman who died following a rollover crash at a busy Redding intersection. The victim, 32-year-old Deseray Lyn Ramirez of Redding, was killed in the collision.
The incident occurred during the afternoon of March 11 at the junction of Hartnell Avenue and Victor Avenue. According to Redding police, Ramirez was traveling east in a white pickup truck with two young passengers when she entered the intersection against a red light.
Investigators reported that she collided with an orange Subaru sedan that was heading south on Victor Avenue. At the time of the crash, Ramirez was reportedly on a FaceTime call.
Authorities said she was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected when the vehicle overturned and landed on its roof. She died from her injuries at the scene.
The two youths inside the pickup were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The driver of the other vehicle, a 41-year-old man from Redding, was involved in the crash, though officials have not confirmed his condition.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing.
