Fatal Topeka, Kansas hit-and-run death of Tommy English – Obituary
Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run incident in Topeka last week as 67-year-old Tommy English. The fatal crash occurred on the evening of March 9 at the intersection of SW 6th Street and Horne Street, just west of SW Washburn Avenue.
Emergency responders pronounced English dead at the scene. Law enforcement officials later located the suspected vehicle involved in the crash on the 200 block of SW Roosevelt Avenue.
A 38-year-old Topeka woman, Elizabeth A. Neal, has been arrested in connection with the incident. She faces felony charges of involuntary manslaughter involving driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. Additionally, Neal was charged with misdemeanor counts for driving on a suspended license and operating a vehicle without liability insurance. She remained in custody on a $1 million bond as of March 16.
The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
