Fatal Livermore car crash death of Jonathan Walker – Obituary
Authorities have confirmed that a 45-year-old Livermore man, Jonathan Walker, died following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 580 on the evening of Tuesday, March 17.
The California Highway Patrol reported that Walker was driving a 2003 Audi A4 convertible westbound near the Isabel Avenue off-ramp shortly before 8:45 p.m. Preliminary investigations indicate that he was traveling at speeds up to 90 mph and attempted an aggressive pass of a slower-moving Honda. Walker lost control of the vehicle, which went down an embankment and came to rest in a grass field just south of the off-ramp.
Walker was pronounced dead at the scene. The Honda driver stopped and cooperated with authorities. The off-ramp remained closed for more than three hours while the crash was investigated.
The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau confirmed Walker’s identity, and officials continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
