Fatal Long Beach pedestrian crash death of Daren Duane Roland – Obituary

A 65-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Long Beach, authorities reported.

The incident occurred on the evening of March 11 at დაახლოებით 7:30 p.m. near the junction of Anaheim Street and Redondo Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Officers responding to the scene found the victim lying on the roadway between Redondo Avenue and Coronado Avenue.

Emergency responders transported Daren Duane Roland, a Long Beach resident, to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries the following day. Police said they were informed of his death several days later, on March 16.

Preliminary findings indicate that a 2011 Toyota Camry was traveling west along Anaheim Street when it hit Roland, who was walking northbound outside of a marked crosswalk on Redondo Avenue.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Investigators stated there is no indication that speeding, impairment, or distracted driving contributed to the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward with information.
