Fatal Brockton hit-and-run death of Lianes Brandao – Obituary

Lianes Brandao, 28, of Brockton, passed away following a late-night altercation and subsequent hit-and-run on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Police found Brandao around 3:55 a.m. in the parking lot behind Cardoso Café near Lincoln Street and West Railroad Avenue. He was rushed to a local hospital and then airlifted to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators determined that Brandao had been involved in a physical confrontation with several individuals earlier that night, who then left the scene.

Later, he was struck by a gray 2013 Jeep Compass that fled the area. Police have spoken with the driver but no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Brandao’s family described him as a quiet, loving man who had emigrated from Cape Verde, worked at a local factory, and cared for his elderly grandmother.

His aunt, Ericka Dos Reis, said the family is struggling with the sudden loss, calling it “difficult” and “in disbelief.” Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Plymouth County State Police Detective Unit.
