Fatal Palatine shooting death of Kevin K. Koonce – Obituary

Kevin K. Koonce, 20, of Streamwood, was found shot in a car Monday night in Palatine, Illinois, and later died at a hospital. Palatine police responded around 9:39 p.m. to the 1200 block of East Prairie Brook Drive after a vehicle reportedly struck several parked cars and a dumpster. Officers discovered Koonce in the driver’s seat of a black four-door Audi with an apparent gunshot wound.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide. North Rand Road between Route 53 and Dundee Road was closed following the event but reopened the next morning. Authorities have not released details about what led up to the shooting and are asking anyone with information to contact the Palatine Police Department Investigations Bureau.
