Authorities have identified the pilot who died in a small plane crash in Whiteside County on Friday afternoon. The victim, 27-year-old Justin Wiggins of Dixon, Illinois, was the sole occupant of the aircraft.

The crash occurred around 3:10 p.m. near the Whiteside County Airport, close to the intersection of Thome and McNiel roads. Officials reported that Wiggins, flying a Piper PA28 owned by JCL Equipment Rental in Coleta, Illinois, was killed when the plane went down.

The Federal Aviation Administration and Illinois State Police responded to the scene. Emergency personnel confirmed that Wiggins was pronounced dead at the crash site.
