Fatal Natchez pedestrian shooting death of Devon Harper – Obituary

Devon Harper, 29, of Natchez, tragically lost his life Sunday night after being struck while walking along U.S. Highway 61 in front of Walmart. The accident happened around 11 p.m. when a 2019 Dodge Charger, driven by 24-year-old Elijah Marsaw of Vidalia, Louisiana, collided with Harper. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene from his injuries.

Elijah Marsaw, an off-duty Natchez police officer, was taken home following the incident. Natchez Police Commander Jerry Ford stated that Marsaw is expected to be placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
