Kenneth Ray Mills, 83, was killed Tuesday evening in a hit-and-run crash in Kings Mountain. The incident occurred around 8 p.m., and authorities quickly identified a dark gray minivan as the suspected vehicle involved.

The driver, 22-year-old Nordic Maxwell Calhoun, was located in Clover, South Carolina, where the minivan showed damage consistent with the collision. Calhoun was taken into custody and faces a North Carolina charge of felony hit-and-run resulting in death or serious injury.

Investigators credited collaboration between multiple agencies and local business owners’ surveillance footage for the swift identification of the suspect. Police continue to seek additional information from the public.
