Fatal Oakdale car crash death of Daniel Steffens – Obituary
Daniel Steffens, a 34-year-old resident of Waterford, has been identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as the victim of a tragic car crash that occurred early Saturday morning in Oakdale. The collision, which took place on Yosemite Avenue north of Wakefield Drive just before 1:40 a.m., involved Steffens’ 2012 Audi sedan crashing into a power line pole.
According to the preliminary investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Steffens was driving southbound in the “slow lane” when he unexpectedly veered left into oncoming traffic. The vehicle then mounted a raised concrete curb before striking the Pacific Gas & Electric pole. Steffens was alone in the car and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The cause of the crash, including whether drugs or alcohol played a role, remains under investigation, and there are no details yet on speed or braking attempts.
Steffens was declared deceased at the scene. A GoFundMe page indicates his full name as Daniel Wayne Steffens Jr. and notes that he is survived by his wife and three children.
