Fatal Syracuse shooting death of Alexcia Lynch – Obituary
A 15-year-old girl named Alexcia Lynch was tragically shot and killed on August 30, 2024, in Syracuse. The victim, known as Lexi, was a youth leader at her church and aspired to become a nurse, according to her family.
The accused shooter, identified as JyQuest Williams, was named in Onondaga County court records. Williams is alleged to have fatally shot Lynch at 901 Madison St., near Syracuse University. He surrendered to the police the following day.
In court, Judge Vanessa Bogan revealed that Williams is charged with deliberately killing Lynch by shooting her multiple times. During the court session, he was referred to only by his initials. His bail was set at $250,000 in cash and $500,000 in bond, despite prosecutors requesting higher amounts.
Williams faces charges of second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is currently detained at the Hillbrook Juvenile Detention Center.
A vigil was held on September 1, 2024, in front of the apartment building where Lynch was killed. Friends and family gathered to release black balloons, some shaped like stars, in her memory.
Lynch’s mother, Krystal Herndon, shared that her daughter had dreams of becoming a nurse and had been caring for others at her church.
