The Austin Police Department has identified a 42-year-old man who lost his life in a two-vehicle collision on North Interstate 35 last week.
On August 29, at approximately 11:09 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of the northbound lane on North I-35 in response to the incident, according to a police statement.
The driver, Sherman Johnson, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Austin Police Department confirmed this marks the city’s 59th fatal crash in 2024. The investigation into the crash was ongoing as of Tuesday.
