The Lake County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a deadly car accident that took place early Monday morning in an unincorporated area of northern Illinois.
The crash occurred around 4:45 a.m. when a vehicle collided with a tree in unincorporated Antioch, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Antioch Fire Protection District, who responded to the scene.
Emergency responders discovered the vehicle on the south side of the road, heavily damaged. The driver, 26-year-old Joseph Eli of Neenah, was the sole occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy conducted on Tuesday confirmed that Eli died from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. The incident is still under investigation, with no further details available at this time.
