The four Iowa residents who were aboard a plane that crashed in Indiana have been identified.
The aircraft, which took off from Fort Dodge, Iowa, was en route to Anderson Municipal Airport when it went down around 9:50 a.m. on a rural road about two miles southeast of the airport.
Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, where the single-engine plane was found engulfed in flames; the fire was soon extinguished.
Authorities from the Federal Aviation Administration, National Transportation Safety Board, and local coroner’s offices are involved in the ongoing investigation. The exact cause of the crash remains undetermined.
The victims have been confirmed as Joseph R. Scallon, 68, from Iowa Falls; Owen James Renaud, 19, from Alden; Jesse H. Ostheimer, 41, from Alden; and Braden W. Hicks, 36, from Manson.
