Fatal Temecula car crash death of Nancy Arzate – Obituary.
A 33-year-old woman, Nancy Arzate from Perris, was killed in a crash over the weekend on I-15 in Temecula, believed to have been caused by a suspected drunk driver. The tragic accident occurred around 10 p.m. on Saturday in the northbound lanes near Temecula Parkway. Arzate lost control of her 2011 Toyota Camry and struck an object on the side of the road, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The impact left Arzate’s vehicle positioned across multiple lanes. After exiting her car, she stood nearby when a 2003 Ford Edge driven by Mason Michael Joachim, a 26-year-old from Carlsbad, approached. While one motorist was able to avoid the situation, Joachim, traveling at around 70 mph, made no attempt to swerve and collided with Arzate.
According to police, Joachim fled the scene on foot immediately after the crash. Several other drivers stopped to assist and tried to provide aid to Arzate until paramedics from the Riverside County Fire Department arrived. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead shortly after.
CHP officers and Riverside County deputies quickly gathered a description of Joachim and launched a search. Within 30 minutes, they located him not far from the accident and arrested him without further incident. After receiving treatment for minor injuries at a local hospital, Joachim was booked on charges including second-degree murder, DUI causing great bodily injury, hit-and-run resulting in death, and driving on a suspended license. He is currently being held on $1 million bail.
