Fatal Angelina County camper fire death of Charles Rash – Obituary
An Angelina County resident has lost his life following a fire in a camper trailer on Tuesday night. Sheriff Tom Selman reported that the fire was first reported in the morning at a trailer located on Bent Willow Road near Huntington.
Witnesses informed emergency responders that neighbors were trying to extinguish the flames with a garden hose, and one individual entered the trailer in search of the occupant. The victim, identified as 67-year-old Charles Rash from Huntington, was found unresponsive after being pulled from the trailer. Authorities stated that his injuries appeared to be primarily due to smoke inhalation.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have originated from a multi-outlet power strip situated near a window air conditioning unit and some clothing items.
