Fatal Columbus shooting death of Earkavion Lee – Obituary
The Muscogee County Coroner’s Office has identified Earkavion Lee, a 15-year-old student, as the victim of a shooting on Watkins Drive that occurred Thursday. Coroner Buddy Bryan reported that Lee was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m., with preliminary information suggesting he was shot as he exited his school bus, where a car was waiting.
Bryan also noted that Lee’s brother, Earkus Porter, Jr., was killed in a shooting back in February.
The Columbus Police Department confirmed the tragic incident in east Columbus, indicating that the student was returning home from school when he was shot.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities have established a police presence at the intersection of Watkins Drive and Wilkens Drive. Reports indicate that one other individual sustained injuries, and the situation is linked to an investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies. Muscogee County School District spokesperson Kimberly Wright mentioned that a student is thought to be involved.
