Fatal Gainesville, Georgia death of Mary Kimani – Obituary

Mary Kimani, a young Kenyan woman and member of the US military, passed away in her sleep at her home in Gainesville, Georgia. Her unexpected death has deeply affected her loved ones both in Kenya and the United States.

According to Kenyan Women In The US – Uncensored (KWITUU), Mary’s memorial service will be held on September 23 at Little & Davenport Funeral Home, located at 355 Dawsonville Hwy, Gainesville, GA 30501. The service will include a viewing an hour before the ceremony, and she will be laid to rest at Georgia’s National Cemetery, a military cemetery.

Delphines Hair, a member of KWITUU, shared the heartbreaking news on social media, expressing deep sorrow over the loss. “God bless you all, I am deeply saddened to announce that our sister Mary Kimani passed away on Sunday, September 14, in her sleep. Let us keep her family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” Delphines wrote.

Mary, who earned a Bachelor’s degree in IT Engineering with a focus on cybersecurity, often shared her academic and professional accomplishments on her Instagram, describing them as some of her proudest achievements.

Mary will be buried at the military cemetery in Georgia instead of Kenya. A member of KWITUU confirmed that Mary, as a dedicated member of the US military, will have some burial expenses covered by the military, though not all costs will be fully paid. The group also contributes to the families of members who have passed away to support them during such times.

Friends and acquaintances of Mary shared their condolences on social media:

Sammy Ondimu Ngare: “Our friend Suzzy Sharon has gone, rest in peace.” Ann K Chemtai: “So sad… I remember when she once asked for prayers for her sick brother. May her soul rest in peace.” Joyness Kangina: “You served well. Thank you for your service and commitment to this country. Rest well.” Oirere Gladys: “Such a young, kind soul who always stood for what was right.” DoRoh Ogega: “My deepest sympathies to the family. Mary was always a bubbly friend who stood up for me.” James Jemystarlin Mboga: “Ondimu Sammy, my brother, please convey my condolences to her family.”

In another similar tragedy, a Kenyan family mourned the loss of Anne Too, who passed away in Australia shortly after visiting her children. The family sought help to bring her body back to Kenya for burial.
