A 62-year-old man from Longview has succumbed to injuries sustained in a traffic incident on Monday night. According to the Longview Police Department, officers were dispatched around 7:50 p.m. to the 1500 block of Alpine Road, where a vehicle struck a pedestrian.
The accident involved a Ford SUV that was heading south on Alpine Road when the pedestrian, later identified as Johnny Ray Johnston, reportedly crossed the street without yielding the right of way, resulting in the collision. Johnston was taken to a nearby hospital but ultimately died from his injuries.
