The community is grieving the loss of 18-year-old Karson Estilette, who tragically lost his life due to injuries from a motorcycle accident on Thursday, September 19, in the 1700 block of W. University Ave. Despite the prayers and support from many in Lafayette, Estilette passed away on Friday, September 20, leaving his family, friends, and the motorcycle community in deep sorrow.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:20 PM when Estilette’s motorcycle collided with a truck making a left turn onto West Simcoe Street. Early reports suggest that Estilette was riding in the outer lane at the time of the crash. The truck driver has been cited for failure to yield but registered a blood alcohol level of 0.00% upon testing.
Emergency personnel transported Estilette to a nearby hospital, where he was reported in critical condition. Unfortunately, despite the community’s hope for recovery, authorities confirmed his death the following day.
