CRESTWOOD, Mo. – Delisha D. Evans, 30, a woman previously reported missing from Princeton, Texas, was among two people killed following a police chase that ended in a crash and gunfire in St. Louis County.

Evans was declared a critical missing person after first responders arrived at her Texas home on Friday morning to respond to a fire, but she was not present. Authorities identified Ryan D. Phillips, 33, of St. Louis, as the primary suspect in her disappearance.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reported that just before 4 p.m. on Friday, they were notified by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) that Evans and Phillips were heading toward the St. Louis area, expressing concerns for Evans’ safety.

On Saturday, MSHP confirmed that Phillips and Evans were the two individuals killed in the incident.

Around 5:30 p.m., troopers spotted the vehicle associated with the missing persons report on Interstate 44 near Missouri 141. When they attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled, leading to a pursuit that ended when the car crashed and overturned on South Rock Hill Road in Crestwood.

Following the crash, shots were fired. MSHP confirmed that a trooper at the scene discharged his weapon, and a firearm was found near the vehicle. Authorities are still investigating the exact causes of death for both Phillips and Evans.

“We can confirm that a trooper did fire his weapon, and a firearm was recovered from the scene next to the suspect’s vehicle,” said Cpl. Logan Bolton of MSHP. “The male and female were pronounced dead at the scene, and the cause of their deaths is still under investigation. This remains an active case managed by the Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Patrol.”

No troopers were injured during the incident.

An earlier version of the report mistakenly stated that the pursuit began on Interstate 44 at Missouri 101.
