Daniel Joseph Helmly, Jr. dies in fatal Edgewater motorcycle crash
Fatal Edgewater crash claims the life of 19-year-old motorcyclist Daniel Joseph Helmly, Jr. – Obituary.
On the afternoon of September 22, 19-year-old Daniel Joseph Helmly, Jr., a resident of Lothian, Maryland, was tragically killed in a collision with an SUV in Anne Arundel County. Authorities from the Anne Arundel County Police Department reported that the accident occurred around 1 p.m. on Solomon’s Island Road near Old South River Road South, close to the South River Bridge in Edgewater.
Helmly was riding a motorcycle when a 2003 black Ford Expedition, traveling southbound on Old South River Road, attempted to make a left turn and collided with him. Emergency responders arrived on the scene, but Helmly was pronounced dead by Anne Arundel County Emergency Medical Services. His remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore for further examination.
The driver and passengers of the Ford Expedition sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
