Riley Smith dies in fatal Salem motorcycle accident
Fatal Salem motorcycle accident death of Riley Smith – Obituary
Riley Smith, a 17-year-old motorcyclist, was tragically killed on Monday evening following a collision with a car near Valley View Middle School at the intersection of 340 South and Woodland Hills Drive in Salem, according to local police.
After the crash, Riley was airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital, where he underwent a 10-hour surgery. Despite plans for additional surgeries, his injuries were too severe, and he passed away the following Tuesday night, his family shared.
Riley was a childhood cancer survivor, having had a kidney removed to treat a tumor. His parents, Chris and Brandy Smith, and his brother Hunter, who was also his best friend, are devastated by the loss. The family expressed their gratitude to first responders and the community for their efforts to save Riley.
The accident is currently under investigation, and a GoFundMe account has been established to help the family with medical expenses.
