Fatal Lodi shooting death of Gregory Kranich – Obituary
A young man, aged 28, was shot and killed in Lodi, California, with an 18-year-old and a teenager now facing charges, according to the Lodi Police Department. Gregory Kranich is currently being held at the San Joaquin County Jail on charges of homicide and conspiracy, enhanced by gang-related factors. Meanwhile, a 17-year-old accomplice has been placed in Juvenile Hall on the same allegations.
The incident unfolded around 4:45 a.m. on Monday when the gunshot detection system, known as “Raven,” alerted authorities to shots fired in the 100 block of East Pine Street. Soon after, multiple calls were received regarding a man found lying in the street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim suffering from several gunshot wounds. Despite first responders providing medical assistance, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, with his identity withheld until family members could be informed.
As part of their investigation, detectives identified Kranich and the 17-year-old as suspects. They learned the duo had fled to a residence on North Main Street near Stark Lane in Jackson, Amador County. Lodi police coordinated with local authorities in Jackson and the Amador County Sheriff’s Office to apprehend both suspects without incident.
While a motive has not been disclosed, police indicated that the shooting seems to be an isolated event. Jackson is situated approximately 35 miles northeast of Lodi.
