Detectives from a murder inquiry have confirmed the identity of the victim involved in a shooting incident. The tragic event occurred in Railway Terrace, Kings Langley, Hertfordshire, around 00:33 BST on September 17, 2024, where a man was found dead shortly after gunfire was reported.
In a statement released on Tuesday, authorities identified the victim as 30-year-old Mustapha Jatta. Investigators suspect a connection between the shooting and the later discovery of a burning white Volkswagen Golf in Furtherfield, Abbots Langley, approximately 12 minutes after the shooting.
Detective Inspector Dale Mepstead, part of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, has urged anyone who may have seen the vehicle before or after the shooting to come forward. He emphasized the importance of checking dashcam footage, as it might provide crucial evidence for the ongoing investigation.
“It has been a week since Mustapha tragically lost his life, and our thoughts are with his family and friends during this challenging time,” Mepstead added, calling for assistance from the public.
