Fatal Polk County car crash claims the lives of Chad Allen Dittmer, Kolby Joseph Drees, and Sara Elizabeth Tourte – Obituary.
Authorities have identified the three people who lost their lives in a two-vehicle collision late Sunday night. The crash occurred around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Northeast 46th Street and Northeast 94th Avenue, located north of Bondurant and east of Ankeny.
Chad Allen Dittmer, 16, of Elkhart, was driving a northbound vehicle, while 38-year-old Kolby Joseph Drees of Bondurant was driving eastbound with passenger Sara Elizabeth Tourte, 34, of Altoona. All three were pronounced dead at the scene, and no one survived the accident.
Investigators from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office believe Dittmer failed to stop at the intersection’s stop sign, which may have contributed to the collision. Speed is also being considered as a possible factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
No further details have been released as authorities continue their work to determine the exact cause of the accident.
